Teaching disabled people on how to swim when facing unfortunate events

My Learning Goal

my learning goal, I am going to learn to teach disabled people how to swim when facing unfortunate events. Therefore, when faced with a situation that is related to swimming or being in the water, they know what to do and do not panic. I choose to teach disabled people because from what I learned, people with disabilities are less proactive and have more difficulties in doing everyday things and hobbies that are open to them.

My product goal

My product will be a training program that  teaches disabled people on how to swim in unfortunate events. The purpose of my product is to teach people who have physical and mental disabilities how to swim when they are facing unfortunate events in the water such as floods and other events related to water. The goal of my product is to make sure that they are able to swim with different techniques and they will not be panic or be confused when they are stuck in these situations.

Timeline

Finding a pool where they can swim freely and swimming coaches and experts to help me teach them. Also, I need to find potential clients for me to teach them how to swim when facing unfortunate events to help me achieve my product. These coaches can help me and support me in teaching my clients to see what I’m teaching wrong and right. Also getting knowledge and information about what types of swimming techniques I’m going to teach them and where to start it. I need to understand what the disabilities are that they have so I can provide easier learning for them to catch up. I do interviews with people who have disabilities so I can know what are the challenges they face in everyday life or situations and the water.

Product Evaluation

Throughout one month, My students can swim without struggling in the water. One of the feedbacks I got from my experts is that I need to be more confident when teaching them and explain things in more detailed because he’s seen my students not understanding what to do based on the things I explain and they would learn more advance lessons if my pp is around 2-3 months..

PP reflection

In this one-month journey, there have been some ups and downs when teaching my students. But in the end, I learned to be more disciplined, and have more patience towards my students, and I can help them to learn a new sport or hobby cause I want them to know that people with disabilities can still do regular activities and make them enjoy the lesson without any struggle or difficulties.

Struggle and solutions along PP

Throughout one month, My students can swim without struggling in the water. One of the challenges is that it can be hard for them to focus and understand what to do in a new environment. But they also did good by learning how to float and learn a couple of swimming styles such as freestyle and frogstyle. If they struggle to balance their body, arms, and legs, They are provided with pool boys and pool noodles to help them balance their whole body. We also have supervision from experts who help me teach my students how to swim in 1 month. They can overcome unfortunate events if they practice every week and improve many things when swimming such as speed, stamina, and posture.
