THEY ARE SO CUTE, aren'T they?
Did you know, animals in the pictures are endangered animals? such Tree Kangaroo, Sumatran Tiger, Dahan Tiger, and Sulawesi Forest Turtle lost their habitat and family. How did we know? Let’s meet and read what the researchers found!

Sharing the Planet
An inquiry into right and responsibilities in the struggle to share finite resources with other people and with other living things; communities and the relationships within and between them; access to equal opportunities; peace and conflict resolutions.
The life of endangered animals affect Biodiversity stability
- Examine interactions between living and non-living things within and between ecosystems.
- Evaluate on how human activities can have positive or adverse effects on local and other environments (for example, waste, agriculture, industry)
Function, Change, Responsibility
Biodiversity, ecosystem and endangered animals
- What are the importance of endangered animals (Function)
- How we affect biodiversity (Change)
- How we can protect endangered animals (Responsibility)
Al-Qur'an Verses

Doughnut's Economy
is a visual framework to guide us towards a more sustainable and fair economy. In our project, there are three left falling short on animals’ life, which are housing, health and income & work. These things cause biodiversity loss.
Step 1: Identifying Globally Significant Issues
Exploring, Wondering, and Questioning
Based on many sources, Indonesia is a country which is rich in biodiversity. There are 259 endemic mammals, 382 endemic birds, and 172 endemic amphibians (IUCN, 2011).
Despite rich in biodiversity, Indonesia leads the world as a country which has long list of threatened mammals at 135 species. One of the most iconic animals that most endangered is Sumatran tiger.
IUCN stated the most immediate threats due to poaching, habitat loss, and wildlife conflict. Many people converts high value rainforests into monoculture pulp plantations. Therefore, each breeding pair of tiger did not have enough areas to survive.
Step 2: Determining Timing and Time Frame
Making Connections between Previous Learning and Current Learning
Learning Continuums
Pre-K
Roles and characteristics of animals
G2
Human impact on natural habitats and responsibilities
Step 3: Engaging Support from the Learning Community
Collecting Data and Reporting Findings or Researching and Seeking Information
After finding out the issues and identifying the central ideas and the Doughnut’s Economy, we did fieldtrip to some museum and institutions. We asked some questions about endangered animals especially Sumatran tiger, how the government prevent biodiversity loss, even the treat that make animals an endangered species.
Faunaland
is a zoo to educate the students about various animals that is in Indonesia, included endangered animals.
We met with Mr Firdaus, he is the expert who explain all animals there and how the animals be endangered species. He said, some animals such Dahan tiger and Grizzled tree-Kangaroo are endangered because reproductive problems. The females are too secretive, they have what we call a silent estrus. Therefore, the expert try to help them by putting a couple Dahan tiger in one place.
You will find the symbol of Red List in some animals, such you can see, Si Amang Putih is endangered animals and Grizzled tree-Kangaroo is critically endangered animals. Moreover, there are information too about their habitat and characteristics.
The students make a reflection of what they have learnt after visiting Faunaland.
WCS
Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is an organization that focus on conserving and monitoring biodiversity in the zoo and forests. They check the animals’ health by putting a technology on an animals.
Discussing
We met Ms. Okta and Mr. Faisal. They explained Sumatran tiger to us very well. We learned many things there.
Sumatran Tiger Presentation
Here is some information that we got from WCS. They told us about the characteristics, the threats, regulation of tiger conservation, food chain and how to protect endangered species.
Reflection
To rich our knowledge, we make a reflection. We write everything that we get from the experts. We just knew that WCS did forest patrol and conserve animals without disturbing them by putting cameras. One of their target is tiger, especially Sumatran tiger. They told us to do actions by stop watching circuses and getting information more about the animals.
MZB Lipi
Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense (MZB) is a museum that has more than 2 million collection of fauna scientific specimens. MZB collaborate with BRIN to collect DNA of animals (endangered). They save the animals in two ways, dry and wet. Dry collection was stored by being dried and then stabbed with a needle, while the wet collection was stored in a glass tube and soaked with 70% alcohol.
Step 4: Organizing learning
Experimenting and Playing with Possibilities Solving Problems in a Variety of Way
Survey Result
We conducted a survey using platform online, Google Form, to determine how much awareness about the endangered animals.
Do you know what is the important of endangered species?
There are 12.9% or 21 out of 163 participants who did not know the purpose of endangered species.
What are the threats that make Sumatran tiger an endangered species?
88% participants said higher extinction rates is in imbalance ecosystem.
Who is responsible for protecting endangered (rare) animals?
Not all people think that protect endangered animas are important, only 12% participants said government is the one who must safe the animals.
Honestly, we are very sad because many people lack of aware of endangered animals. That is way, we try to provoke people by doing the actions. Here is our actions ...
Mini Cinema
We opened our mini cinema for Al Jabr and Bosowa Bina Insani students. We watched our documentary and animation movie, promoted our book and board game, then the last session we have free snacks and game online. We want educate people to save animals and protect their habitats too.
These are our creative actions
Taqijuro Abhista Juarsa
"Help!"
This book tell us about the information of endangered animals that we got from the experts and there are fun activities too.

Step 5: Monitoring the Exhibition
Taking and Depending a Position
Mentoring Sessions
Self-Assessment
Our Exhibition is a success for us, because...
We create documentary video, animation, online game, board game, handbook and e-book to educate and raise children awareness of endangered animals.
3 things that we have learned are
- Information about endangered animals, the characteristics, threats, regulation of tiger conservation, food chain and how to protect endangered species.
- The possible actions that can we do
- Save the endangered animals is the responsibility of all parties and starts from us.
What makes this experience meaningful
We can save endangered animals in various ways and that starts with educating and raising children’s awareness about how to love and protect our environment.
We hope these information can spread awareness and persuade people to do the actions like us"
